I recently had the pleasure to stay at the Birchwood Inn boutique hotel in downtown Saint Petersburg, FL. As close as I am to the St. Pete downtown district, I was eager to stay at the Birchwood, as it’s one of St. Pete’s newly opened Inns.
With beautiful views of the bay and downtown, it’s considered to be a classy boutique hotel with modern design amenities. It’s located on Beach Drive the busiest street in downtown and within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants, museums, parks and waterfront.
According to the history of the inn, the “southern exterior of the concrete addition is adorned with a 12-by-24 foot mural of a birch tree”. With only 18 rooms, the inn provides the charming yet modern stay.
I swiped my key card and opened up the door to my room, I was super anxious to see and indulge in the Premier Suite which also included a balcony overlooking the downtown district of Beach Drive. When I entered my room at the Birchwood Inn, I was not disappointed! It was accented with light and dark browns, greens and tan colors with two magenta chairs at the base of the bed.
When it comes to the bed, it’s all about the pillows and how comfortable the mattress is. The pillows were fluffy and plush and the bed felt cozy and snug.
As I opened up the french doors to the bathroom, I was immediately taken by the red and gold tone colors that nicely contrasted with the brightness of the tile on the wall and floor. The combination of both made this an oasis of a master suite bathroom. The french tub was the highlight of my evening, as I had planned on ending a busy day treating myself to a bubble bath 🙂
With a background in hospitality and food & beverage, I understand all the aspects of the operation. I’m always looking at things like cleanliness, food quality, friendliness and speed of service when I stay at a resort, hotel or a bed & breakfast.
Overall my whole experience with staying at the Birchwood Inn boutique hotel was great!! They do however have an opportunity to improve their speed of service at the front desk when checking in and out. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being exceptional, I rate the Birchwood Inn “4.5 Stars”.
If you want to experience a boutique hotel stay, make sure to stay at The Birchwood Inn Hotel.
