The St. Pete Grand Prix is one of the most prestigeous events held once a year in downtown St. Pete. The first two days are practice and qualifying rounds for the Indycars, while on the third day its the actual race. With thousands of people and visitors attending this major event, I was super excited when I got the invitation from the St.Pete/Clearwater Area Convention & Visitor Bureau. How could I say no. This is an opportunity of a lifetime!!
The main sponsor of the event is Firestone. However, there are several companies that come together to make this race a huge success such as Visit St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Cadillace, Chevrolet, and Dex imaging to name a few.
On Friday, the practice racing begin. Saturday is qualifying event and Sunday is the main event with six different classes of races to include; The USF2000, Pro Mazda , Pirelli World Challenge GT, Verizon IndyCar Series, Indy Lights and Stadium Super Trucks.
Audi Supercar racing in the Pirelli Challenge.
Mercedes being chased by a Ferrari in the GT race.
Team Penske paddock.
IRL driver Ryan Hunter-Reay in his Honda powered race car coming down the main stretch!
Graham Rahal’s Honda powered IRL car.
James Jakes from England punching his Honda powered IRL car down the straightaway!
Australian native, Will Power taking his Chevrolet full throttle down Albert Whited.
As I snapped the shot. It was the perfect moment. Charlie Kimbal waved at me 🙂
If you’re looking to attend an exciting event with high speed energy and max horse power with beautiful surroundings then this is the event for you!! When purchasing your tickets, make sure to bring ear buds because the cars are loud!!
